After a couple of years of commuting daily from Worcestershire to the BBC in Bristol, I decided to try to document what could be seen from the M5. Designer Kristina Thimm and I devised a format that allowed us to position images and text along the sides of a straightened carriageway running down the centre of each double page. Media interest in the project was immense. So I went on to tackle the M6, then the M4.










All seems madness now. These days I hate driving on motorways. How I persevered with spotting structures while at the wheel over hundreds of miles I do not know.
