Vital air sites

If you are going to study British aircraft history, there are many places you must visit… Not least…

RAF Hendon: Sunderland enjoying space
RAF Coningsby: memorial flight craft + big bomb
East Kirkby museum, Lincolnshire: Lancaster amidst artefacts
RAF Cosford: 2018 air show – Red Arrows approaching

Where else?

There are many fine smaller museums to explore. I would pick out Tangmere near Chichester as a first class candidate – once a key Fighter Command squadron air station which played a vital role in the Battle of Britain.

Through the summer of 2018, the RAF took its 100 year anniversary roadshow around the UK.
Here they are setting up in the middle of Birmingham
IWM Duxford: Sunderland squeezed in
IWM Duxford: Airing for a Spitfire
IWM Duxford: Lancaster squeezed
RAF Cosford: Red Arrows receding
